cultivating connection & intimacy at the threshold of change, my work pulls from the ancient wisdom that flows through our bones & our breath. the wisdom that remembers how to be in loving, reverent relationship with challenge & conflict.

Ways to Work with Me

Mens Work

“The first act of violence that patriarchy demands of males is not violence toward women. Instead patriarchy demands of all males that they engage in acts of psychic self-mutilation, that they kill off the emotional parts of themselves. If an individual is not successful in emotionally crippling himself, he can count on patriarchal men to enact rituals of power that will assault his self-esteem.”

~ bell hooks, The Will to Change: Men, Masculinity & Love ~

now more than ever we (men) need to come into a more whole relationship with who we are at the emotionally embodied, psychic & relational levels.

for too many of us growth & evolution at these levels has been stunted &/or tainted (as spoken to so directly by bell hooks in the quote above).

we suffer as a result. So do those we are connected to. All of them.

this work is not just about becoming more emotionally-tapped-in, more intuitive, more empathetic & more compassionate (though it is about all these things).

what this work is really about is cultivating all of these dearly needed skills while also building the capacity to face life’s challenges with a strong spine, firmly rooted, honest & open. no matter what. i know of nothing more “manly” & nothing more needed from the men of our age.

All that you touch you change.

All that you change changes you.

The only lasting truth is change.

God is change.

- Octavia E. Butler, Parable of the Sower

My Philosophy

before we can become who we need to be, we have to realize who we are

before we can realize who we are, we have to accept who we’ve been

once we accept who we’ve been, we can take responsibility for who we are

once we take responsibility for who we are, we can become who we need to be

change is inherent to us. period.

every moment of every day & night we are in a process of change expressed within us & beyond us. the ways we relate to change, notice it, work with it (or against it) is reflected back to us in all our relationships.

my work is centered around coming into right relationship with change from the inside out & outside in.

this is practice centered work. It requires a willingness to commit to noticing how we are (& are not) working with change within & beyond us.

our potential is waiting for us to stop hiding from what is true.

the truth of what we feel. the truth of what we suppress & avoid. the truth(s) we ignore & those we prioritize above others.

those that commit & show up fully for this work tend to find a deeper sense of honesty, alignment & aliveness in themselves & their relationships.

through the work we re-member (as in put back together) a more full, more whole way to be ourselves (together) amidst it all.

this work is less about forcing change & more about coming into a more honest relationship with the change that’s already here, ready & waiting to be acknowledged & related with in the present.

we do this by:

  • practicing & observing

  • adjusting postures

  • adapting stances

  • building capacity to sooth whatever fears block us from meeting this moment with an open heart.

through the process of this work we learn that we do not need to force change. Instead we practice leaning into the wisdom inherent to change itself & learning to love what we find there.
